April 17, an anniversary worth celebrating...

It's now been two years since I got the phone call from Dr. Leming informing me that he was looking at a very 'boring' PET scan. Translated, he was saying there were no visible signs of lymphoma in my scans...boring, in this case, was a very good thing. I don't know how I'll celebrate but I do know April 17 is a date I will look forward to every year! Two years ago at this very moment we were being told that my blood counts were too low to receive a chemo treatment and a little more than 5 hours later, at about 4:42 pm, I got the call from Dr. Leming; talk about being on an emotional rollercoaster. But the end result was, the treatments were working. We were obviously heading in the right direction.

I remember going to Judd's volleyball game at Roger Bacon later that day and telling him the great news. It was quite a contrast from when I had to break the other news to him six months earlier. I recall all the parents coming up and giving me a hug throughout the match. I also remember Judd not playing well and getting yanked in the second game...normally that would have ticked me off but nothing was going to spoil the day. Topping it all off, I remember Mike and Marybeth Emming treating Julie and me to a celebratory Blizzard at the St. Bernard Dairy Queen following the match. So maybe that's what I'll do to celebrate today; after work I think I'll swing by the St. Bernard Dairy Queen and get myself a Heath bar Blizzard!

Thanks to everyone for your continuede support!

100 Years...

I recently pulled this song off i-Tunes and have found myself listening to it quite a bit the past couple weeks. It was used on an insurance commercial a few years ago so I'm sure you'd recognize it. Anyway, just thought I'd share the lyrics with all of you. Life is an continual series of moments; live your life so that all of your moments are treasured ones.

100 Years
I'm 15 for a moment
Caught in between 10 and 20
And I'm just dreaming
Counting the ways to where you are.

I'm 22 for a moment
She feels better than ever
And we're on fire
Making our way back from Mars.

15 there's still time for you
Time to buy and time to lose
15, there's never a wish better than this
When you only got 100 years to live.

I'm 33 for a moment
Still the man, but you see I'm a they
A kid on the way
A family on my mind

I'm 45 for a moment
The sea is high
And I'm heading into a crisis
Chasing the years of my life

15 there's still time for you
Time to buy,
Time to lose yourself
Within a morning star.

15 I'm all right with you
15, there's never a wish better than this
When you only got 100 years to live

Half time goes by
Suddenly you’re wise
Another blink of an eye
67 is gone
The sun is getting high
We're moving on...

I'm 99 for a moment
Dying for just another moment
And I'm just dreaming
Counting the ways to where you are
15 there's still time for you
22 I feel her too
33 you’re on your way
Every day's a new day...

15 there's still time for you
Time to buy and time to choose
Hey 15, there's never a wish better than this
When you only got 100 years to live.

40 miles today...

Well our Team in Training group went 40 miles today. It was a lot easier than last week, maybe the legs are getting stronger. There were a couple of nice inclines along the way and we made it up them without much trouble. the ride took about 3 hours and 10 minutes and that's counting several stops to make sure we didn't lose anyone along the way. We'll keep building until we get up to 80 miles a few weeks before we goout to Lake Tahoe.

I believe I passed my fundraising goal of $4400 yesterday. Thanks to everyone who has made a contribution, your support is greatly appreciated. I'm hoping to blow that $4400 amount so if you'd still like to make a contribution, follow the link in my previous post. It's the active.com link. Thanks so much.

Other than that, not much news to report. I will issue a huge warning; Abbey got her temporary license today so look out for her on the road!! I think we're going to be acquiring a few more gray hairs between now and September 14!

Have a great weekend!

Vince
