It never fails....

There are days when you sit around wishing you had something to do and there are other days when you have several great options and you have to decide which activity to attend. Today is that kind of day for us. Aaron has been on a Kairos retreat this week and there is a surprise welcome home reception for the boys at the school today at 4:30 pm. Kairos can be a very emotional event for the boys and we're obviously curious to see how Aaron reacted to the experience.

But I mentioned we have a couple options. This afternoon at 2:30 in Columbus, Abbey's Mount Notre Dame field hockey team will be playing in the state semi-finals for an opportunity to play in the state championship game tomorrow. MND has played in the state tournament 3 of the past 5 years but this is Abbey's first trip and you never know if there will be another opportunity. We were fortunate enough to watch Judd play in two state championship volleyball matches and it is pretty awesome to watch your kids play with a state title on the line. Unfortunately the game will be ending at about the same time the reception begins and since Columbus is 100 miles away, doing both activities just isn't an option.

So we'll be relying on text message reports from Colmbus and hoping the girls pull off the win so we can head north for the championship game tomorrow. The welcome home reception for the boys is just too important and I'd hate to think of Aaron there all by himself while all the other boys are getting hugs from thier parents. Aaron deserves his hugs, too!

SURPRISE!!!! I'm 50....

Yes, today is my 50th birthday. I know it's hard to believe. Especially when you consider how young I look, right?! (Be nice.)

Last Friday Julie threw a surprise party for me and it was an awesome time. She really got me - I had no idea what was going on until I entered the building and saw everyone stading around with a mask of my face. Pretty scary, huh? Thanks to everyone who was able to attend and make it a truly memorable birthday. I was really touched by the number of people who were able to attend, I was blown away. (and quite tired the next day!)

Today, we'll probably keep it low key. We do have a busy weekend as Judd has a club volleyball game, Abbey's field hockey team is in the state quarterfinals and I'm heading to the OSU/Penn State game tomorrow night. So, we'll probably lay low tonight since we'll obviously be doing a lot of running around tomorrow.

For those of you dreading hitting the big 5-0, it's really not that bad. Hell, three years ago I wondered if I'd even make it to 50 so to me, every birthday is a blessing.

Hope all is well with all of you and look forward to seeing you soon.

Go Bucks!!!
