As the 4th year anniversary approaches, no noticeable changes in scans....

October 4th will be the 4 year anniversary of my diagnosis for follicular lymphoma. On Wednesday, (September 30) I had an appointment with Dr. Leming to review the results of my recent PET scan. I'm happy (and very relieved!) to report that there were no noticeable differences between my PET scan and previous CAT scan from March of 2009! Dr. Leming was very pleased with this report and the fact that I was able to lose over 30 pounds between visits. I told him I was very disappointed in myself that I still weighed over 220 pounds at the time of my visit in March so I made a conscious effort to lose weight before my next visit. 31 pounds later I'm feeling much, much better and hope I can drop a few more and try to keep myself around 190 pounds.

We went to St. Louis last weekend for St. Louis University's Parents Weekend and Abbey's Field Hockey tournament at Nerinx Hall Academy. We were able to spend some time with Aaron and it was great that Abbey and Aaron got to spend some time together, as well. Aaron seems to be settling in quite well in St. Louis. He's discovered that he can get around the city by taking the Metro train and he's made his way to a Cardinals game and other sites around the city. He's also decided that he's not that interested in becoming a Civil Engineer so he's looking to go undecided as a major for a while. Hopefully he's staying on top of the school work while he's discovering all the fun things St. Louis has to offer.

My football team (the 5th graders Titans at St. Susanna) are now 4-0-1 in their season. This has been a fun group of boys and I don't want to jynx them but I really believe they've got a great shot at going undefeated! The next two games will tell - if we can go into our last game undefeated we will run the table.

A couple weeks ago our team walked in the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Light the Night event in Mason. It was a wonderful evening and I was quite touched when I showed up and all the boys and their parents were wearing Team Hopkins t-shirts for the event. One of the boys acually made a little speech which was also moving and unexpected. The boys collectively raised over $700, not bad for a group of 10 year old boys!

I hope all is well with everyone! Thanks for checking in....
