Catching up....

I realize its been a while since my last post. I thought I might take a few minutes to catch up with everything that's been going on.

I did participate in the Fletcher Flyer Century ride in North Carolina on June 7. We had a great time and while the course wasn't as beautiful as the ride out in Tahoe, it was still a pretty and challenging course. The weather was nice but temps did get into the 80's which led to some leg cramps the final 12 miles of the ride - that was fun! Every time we had to go up hill, each revolution of the pedal felt like someone was stabbing me in my inner thigh. I thought I was drinking plenty of fluids but obviously not. Once the cramps set in, there was no getting rid of them. Still, we managed to average about 16.7 miles per hour and I was very grateful to my riding partners that they slowed down and rode the final stretch at my pace. The good news is, our teamed raised over $60,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society! All the TNT participants at the ride raised a combined $250,000!!

While in North Carolina we stayed with a good friend and co-worker from Xavier. He handles our east coast development activities and he and his wife moved to this home earlier this year. They were able to accommodate 3 other couples who came down for the ride and we had a wonderful time - their home was spectacular. It is in a preserve called Balsam Mountain Preserve and you couldn't ask for a more beautiful setting. We were able to play a little golf and had a very relaxing time while visiting Mike and Pam Frey.

Hopefully, we'll survive the summer. The kids are running around doing all sorts of things and we only have 3 cars which can be a pain when you have 5 drivers in the house - it can get a bit hectic. The thing to keep in mind, I guess, is that we probably only have a couple summers left until our kids are off to college or moving out on their own so as hectic and frustrating as these times can be, we should enjoy them for what they are because it won't be long before we're really missing these days. (Hopefully that makes sense!)

I hope all is well with everyone! I'm looking forward to watching the US Open this weekend - last year we were down in Aruba during the Open and I spent the better part of that weekend in the hotel watching the drama unfold between Tiger and Rocco Mediate. Hopefully there will be an equally compelling drama played out this weekend at Bethpage Black.

One final note, through all the excitement of the bike ride I missed my sister's birthday. Happy 40th goes out to my sister, Aimee...hope you had a great one!
