It's already August, 2008...

I can't believe it's been a month since my last post. July flew by and it's hard to believe we are already in the 8th month of 2008. Things continue to go fairly well. I'm still felling better all the time and after a year off, I'm back to coaching football again at St. Susanna. I'm also getting out and riding about 100 miles on the bike per week. Last week I tried riding to and from work but the roads that lead from Mason to Xavier are pretty heavily trafficed during the rush hours and I'm not sure it's the safest thing to do. I have to figure out a route that will allow me to get out of the main flow of traffic but i'm not sure if there is one.

With August here, the kids only have a few weeks left before school starts. They've all been working this summer and Abbey has started up field hockey for the upcoming season. Judd needs to be back to UD on August 19 and I believe Aaron and Abbey will also start back that week. It's hard to believe Judd has been home since late April; it's been nice having him home but I have to believe he's ready to get back to school. Now we need to start the process of getting Aaron settled on a college. He's going to apply to some places this fall and we'll see where he gets accepted.

My next doctor's appointment is in late September. Dr. Leming said if all goes well the next two visits, my Rituxin treatment in December should be my last. That would be almost 3 years from the date of my first Rituxin treatment. Time flies when your having fun.

I was asked to submit my story for consideration for an upcoming book that is being written by a comedienne from Minnesota. My sister Aimee met this woman last spring and told her about my story. The woman suggested I submit my story for her book - she was looking for medical stories that were funny, inspirational or both. I went the inspirational route and submitted my story a few weeks ago. The author said my submission was very good and that she would let me know in November if my story is accepted. I'll be sure to let you all know if my story makes it - I think she said I'll get paid $25 if my story is used so who knows, this could be the start of something big.

I hope all is well with everyone. I'm always amazed when I tell someone something and they say, "I know, I read that on your blog." So all that's left to say is thanks for checking in!

Vince
